Some good news for a change. The 23 rescued puppies continue to do well at the HRSPCA shelter. How long these pups will remain in the care of the shelter is unknown. The 83 dogs which remain on the property are receiving daily food and fresh water that is brought in by water truck, this being done by Town authorities.
Unfortunately the fate of the 83 dogs remaining on the property is as yet unknown. Some were reported as being unapproachable, and all are in various declined states of health and condition. Likely a further assessment will be done and it is possible some may have to be humanely euthanized. The Alberta vet who visits Hay River once a month is returning next week, unfortunately as to whether the assessment will be done at that time is unknown. Whether any will be relocated to southern facilities remains a mystery.
Further updates will continue.
To those individuals who have taken time out of their busy day to view this Blog and to make their comments, thank you on behalf of those animals who continue to suffer in silence.

hello, i live in yellowknife, nt and i am devestated by this story. I am alrdy upset at the amount of sled dogs not excercised in summer and chained day after day, but this story has been on my mind all day at work and even when i go to sleep.
I have been seriously thinking of starting a facebook petetion for these dogs to be taken away by the time she appears in court -July 9th i think it is. Im not looking for Petition to get her more punishment, but rather a petetion to free the animals. i think once we start a facebook petetion for the judje with alot of signatures he will see how upset the communities of Nt are and order the dogs to be taken away, maybe by that time if we really rushed we could get people to offer to adopt them as they see the signatures 7 this story they will have sympathy and maybe offer to adopt..if we can do this petetion and show the communities are devestated and show a list of atleast some people willing to take these dogs we could make a big difference…let me know what you think please
I would like to thank Bonnie for all the long hours of volunteer work she does to improve the lives of suffering animals.
As the Manager for the Beaufort Delta Regional SPCA in Inuvik I would like to say we are very lucky she is our secretary, and Hay-River Animal rights protector.
It is far to many who turn a blind eye on Animal cruelty in there own community. The situation in Hay River is a prime example of one person making things happen.
The sad reality to a community divided is people and animals get hurt. Tougher enforcement is needed to stop the cycle who abuse not only animals but family.
Sincerely

Keep up the great work Bonnie. And today is a great day to Volunteer, and to get your pet spayed/neutered
Thank you for all your amazing work Zephyr. I have had to take a hiatius from animal news for a while and I apologize but have needed a break from it as the BP thing has completely done me in. But I’m rallying again.
Meanwhile thank you for keeping all the fires going up there.
