Update Canada’s Animal Cruelty Laws
I urge everyone to sign the petition above which has been issued by WSPA.
I have signed this myself with my personal comment which is below and which has been sent to the Canadian Federal Government.
We can do this people!!!
“The current F.C.C. on the books is archaic, antiquated and enables animal cruelty in this country. Canada’s dismal ongoing record protecting animals in this country is well known around the world and much negative focus has been brought and continues to be brought to this fact. Instead of continuing to embarrass the Canadian people and this country, the Federal Government needs to recognize that animal cruelty is NOT acceptable, nor will it continue to be tolerated. The treatment of Factory Farm animals is especially horrific, animals in research and those licensed breeders who supply animals for research, puppy and kitten mills, pet stores who deal with mills, the failure to prosecute effectively those who inflict pain and suffering an companion animals, strays, the total lack of funding on the part of both Provincial and Federal Govt’s to support local animal rescue groups, shelters and the like exemplifies the indifference and complacency which remains prevalent with the Powers that Be. Canada for example continues to import cat and dog fur products from China, continues to import U.S. wild horses into this country for slaughter despite the US having banned such slaughter for horsemeat in their own country. Animals are more than mere property!!! It is time for change. It is time that the Canadian Federal Government enact legislation that fully protects animals (all manner) in this country!!
Instead of continuing to embarrass the Canadian people and this country by enabling animal cruelty the Federal Government needs to recognize that animal cruelty is NOT acceptable, nor will it continue to be tolerated.”
