My amazing Colorado contact took the time to send this to me via email.  Keep up the fight dear friend.

Good article on our “wild horse program” and the current state of affairs.

My comment below. Permission to crosspost.

Using language such as “emotional horsy lovers” was long used to dismiss efforts by the opposition and enemies of wild horses, which feel either exposed or threatened in their framework, to build a shield against the rising pressure to their cattle kingdoms. Keep up the good work, all of you. The call for change is loud and clear; Americans will not stand by and witness the continuing abuse and cruelty while those in charge remain passive by choice. Decades of mismanagement to cave into the cattle muscle bearing monopoly are a contributing factor to the shrill outcry by some in the advocacy. When horses continue to die, suffer and remain trapped in a propaganda oriented mindset, is it a wonder? The public has not only offered input, help and ideas how to improve this mess. The public has been pushed aside with clever PR stunts and the constant pacifying statements in hopes we go away. The excuse based communication has more than not infuriated members of the animal advocates whose sole goal is to improve the lives of these horses. A thorn in the side of those who use any twist to justify their own callous or cruel actions, the advocacy has successfully shed light onto the inhumane standards which call for national reform. The tunnel vision of those who state helicopter touching horses is justified because these horses are “wild” reflects the bigger mentality under which the wild horses have been doomed.  A lack of education in the general public adds to the national crisis. The current state of affairs is a product of secretive decade-long corruption, monopolized by special agendas and greed, with leadership appeasing the outraged public with yet more shield off comments. Mocking the efforts of advocates calling for increased welfare and higher standards  in a time of national scandals dooming over the agency, is a tool used by those whose superlative domains and influence are threatened. No horse responds acceptingly to being touched by a helicopter, whether it is domesticated or wild. Yet this is exactly the absurdity on which this battle is raging. An agency, aligned with profit driven agendas, using any and all twists in hopes to alleviate national outrage on their current highly flawed methods. Horses suffer, period. Horses are not treated with the respect and care that would reflect the ironic non-existent “reform and transparency” of those who shout it coming. The American public needs to continue to demand reform, as the silence of new Secretary Jewell deems instructive of the shepherding that exists deep within, while BLM wants the public to believe they care. I am awaiting more action for horses in holding as the current facilities reflect the dire minimalist attitude dooming over any aspect of the program that is not in the interest of the very animals involved. Americans must continue to call in a chorus for reform, to see betterment against the sinister establishment inflicting this irreparable destruction while alternatives such as Reserve Design and proposals for self-stabilizing, sustainable solutions in the wild are on the table. We call on BLM to work with us, not against us. I call on HSUS to mandate immediate measures to take effect. The standby or diplomacy approach has failed our horses. Provision of shelter for holding is a call that has gone national as of last week. In a program allocating millions of tax funds to malignantly driven round ups to evict horses as I type, the agency’s claim of horses in “the open” not needing shade to excuse their absence of shelter  is refuted by experts. It is a matter of priorities in which we have seen where they stood for BLM for the last 40 yrs.  Any horse seeks shelter, if given a choice. Chutes, flags, panels, fences are not part of the “open range” yet they pose no concern to BLM. Dismissing mustangs as feral is another ploy to distract. Honing such statements shows the core value of those we have exposed to be deceptive. Dismissing real science and the work of capable experts willing to contribute to the much needed improvement of the program shows a fiefdom mentality of biblical proportions to gear to those who used the wild horses to benefit.
Options are available to improve herd management in the wild as BLM was assigned to do.  The extended research by experts on how to achieve a balance and truly manage, not extinct these animals, is smugly dismissed. Instead, the pilfering of wild horses continues under guise of managing, whilst all input from the public is ignored. The disregards for welfare in holding, where deaths are deflated or go unreported, are of great concern. The initial installing of a sprinkler for relief is noted and must lead to more efficient permanent infrastructure. These horses have no enrichment, no basic comfort but minimal care. They can be given a better quality of life after the traumatic experiences of being evicted, separated from their bands and degraded into warehoused, sacked commodities. It is just once again the question:  where are the priorities of BLM?  To mock those who drive for more humane treatment?  To push for slaughter as a ploy to deter those defending the horses and their rightful habitat? To issue trivial statements instead of seeking real progress and work with the American public? It remains to be seen. In the meantime, the collective call of people for betterment in holding and on the range will continue. The inevitable urgency is clear and demands the attention of all animal welfare organizations to take note and get involved. The lingering of this debate as a politically influenced soap opera is not acceptable. These are America’s horses, and Americans are calling on BLM to change course.  Provide appropriate shelter/relief to holding (suffering exacerbated to increased numbers of equines who should be on the range, not corralled), proposals of workable, cost-efficient ideas have been submitted.
Contemplate solutions that reflect a result of a dialog with the public as well, not only the cattle parties. Balance must be restored, not only on our public lands, but within the think tank that has led to the current reality.

For Immediate Release
Canadian Wild Horse Foundation (CWH) launches Federal Petition: Alberta Wild Horses. “Heritage Animal”
Canadian Wild Horse Foundation (CWH) has launched a federal petition, which will be submitted to the Canadian House
of Commons August 2013. The petition urges the Government of Canada to protect the wild horses of Alberta by
designating them a “Heritage Animal”. The campaign to save Albertaʼs wild horses is actively supported by both local and
international equine enthusiasts and celebrity.

Today, the wild horses of Alberta fall under the “Stray Animals Act” which classifies them as feral and leaves them
severely unprotected under the Law. They are at serious risk of having their herd(s) population fall below the required
numbers needed to sustain the natural balance of a healthy gene pool. These horses have an abundance of natural
predators and harsh living conditions to contend with and are now forced to survive government licensed trapping that not
only send these magnificent animals into the slaughterhouses for human consumption but also seriously risk the future of
Albertaʼs wild horse herds. According to ESRD (Alberta Environment & Sustainable Resource Development) between
December 2011 and February 2012 there were 216 wild horses captured through a possible 237 permit licenses
distributed by the ESRD. This was a record high cull.

Wild horses have roamed Albertaʼs Crown land for hundreds of years. They are born, live and die in the wild; they are not
a stray-animal. They have contributed to the natural eco-system for centuries and are an integral part of it. It is time we let
them live wild and free, so that future generations will be able to appreciate not only their contribution to our countries
history but their beauty in a natural environment.

Many Canadianʼs are unaware of the wild horseʼ existence and their immense contribution to the history of Canada. CWH
is working to change this. CWH believes it is of the utmost importance to protect the iconic wild horse herds of Alberta
before it is to late. The federal petition is in response to concerned citizens who have initiated letters, emails and phone
calls to political bodies that have fallen on deaf ears.

CWH is urging all Canadians to support the cause to save our wild horses by signing the federal petition available for
download on CWH Facebook, Google+ Linked In and You Tube Profiles.

http://canadianhorsedefencecoalition.wordpress.com/2013/02/14/chdc-reposts-proof-of-cfia-failure-phenylbutazone-positive-horse-sent-to-slaughter-and-through-the-food-chain/

As the world, and especially the horse world, watches as the horsemeat scandal unfolds in Europe and the U.K., the CHDC is reposting “Proof of CFIA Failure“, the story of Silky Shark, a Standardbred racehorse who was slaughtered and slipped through the system to dinner plates, when his carcass should have been condemned due to phenylbutazone contamination.

Canada’s Bloody Secret is that this country enables the mass brutality and inhumane treatment of both US and Canadian horses. Why, because it is a multimillion dollar industry, fueled by greed and a total disregard for life. The US banned their own equine slaughter plants many years ago, so Canada took up the opportunity to make money by importing tens of thousands of US horses destined for slaughter and horse meat exportation to Europe. Our own wild horses face the same total disregard and what few wild numbers are being exterminated because they have no protection and are considered feral vermin. Retired racehorses, competition horses are all now part of the growing horse meat industry.

With former Ontario PremierMcGuinty’s closure of Ontario racetracks that number of equine victims has increased, these horses contain toxic medicines administered during their racing and competitive careers that make the meat unfit for human consumption. The EU has already launched a full scale investigation into consumer fraud against companies within the EU that have failed to advise consumers that horse meat is often the prime ingredient in their products.

Regardless of the contaminants, horses continue to be exploited by any and all means possible at the hands of the greedy, self justified pro-slaughter advocates, who disregard the legal lands given to and what little protection there is for horses across the US and Canada.

Canada continues to bloody her hands and will continue to do so on this issue, just as she stains herself with the blood of murdered seals and by importing cat/dog fur products from China.

Until such time as Private Members Bills that are brought before the House of Commons demanding increased and strengthened Animal Protection Laws for this country no longer get defeated in their Second Reading (and there have been so many) nothing will change in this country. It is a total ongoing disgrace period!!! Shameful to a degree that cannot be described in words!!

Over a month ago I announced via FaceBook that I was, after long hard thought, retiring from advocacy.  Perhaps I used the wrong terminology, sabbatical is the term I should have used.  Suffering from Compassion Fatigue, I need a break, the length of which is unknown.

Anyone who is bombarded on a daily basis with the continued horrors inflicted upon animals, anyone who must physically clean up the mess left behind by irresponsible pet owners, administer care to the abandoned and the suffering, anyone who works in shelters and vet hospitals will in time go through Compassion Fatigue.  Similar to Post Trauma Stress Disorder, the effects of Compassion Fatigue can be and are devastating.

Despite the need for peace and respite from advocacy there are issues that continue to eat at my soul, no inner peace can be found as long as animals suffer at the hands of man.

I received this email just the other day from Sinika, with the Canadian Horse Defence Coalition, and with her permission have copied and pasted it below.

Canada continues the blood bath in the equine slaughter plants in this country.  Canada continues to enable the horrific BLM roundups of wild horses in the US by importing these animals for slaughter into our country.

We all thought that the recent XL Meat scandal was bad enough.  We learned how our Canadian Food Inspection Agency dropped the ball on that one.  Well the CFIA continues to drop the ball, by not effectively and efficiently monitoring horse slaughter in this country, and by allowing contaminated horse meat to be exported from this country.  But really, think about it, can we expect anything less, after what we have already learned?

Once you have read Sinika’s  email, please take the time to visit this additional  link below regarding ‘Animal Angels’ Investigation of  the “Bouvry’s Slaughter Pipeline”. “Bouvry Exports operates one of the largest horse slaughter plants in Canada approved to export horse meat to the EU. Bouvry Exports owns about 2000 acres of land near Fort Macleod, where they fatten US and Canadian horses in large feedlots.”

Warning the pictures which are exposing this horrendous inhumane treatment of horses awaiting slaughter are very graphic.

http://campaign.r20.constantcontact.com/render?llr=whxo74bab&v=001rfHpJW7JhgDr8qwFNDbXg9Pu9-IzZcEd7xgB8eBrxCjUoheS_2QY-8GOquJ-4WBdFdNJaacsldVMviXrVCbFa4AZZ7i32KMc3B_FLV8mlryiahf_PcKjTGPWxg9wJVzu3qZCw_0JtgRgCZ91IxGbsqFVIljvA04MDFO1YByYstl7dog3Npbd-7HZs-HjCMuEMA0DRiV22etN6gBwoP8nKfLMBsUF5cKSoOCHNnQtFHUmdWSHOAa1ke7TlEZd83Z6

We cannot allow the continuation of such inhumane treatment to continue.  We all know about the Factory Farms, we all know about the Puppy and Kitten Mills, we all know about the Dog Fighting Rings, the Racing Industry, the Circuses and the Rodeos….but more must be done to end the equine slaughter for profit and greed and the exploitation of lands established as protected areas for wild horses, we must all put an end to the Canadian export of tainted meat unfit for human consumption, and any and all Canadian imports of products into this country from the cruel exploitative practices of other nations against animals.

The Life and Death of Silky Shark, a Racehorse

In July 2011, a Standardbred U.S. racehorse named Silky Shark died in a Quebec slaughterhouse.

The Canadian Horse Defence Coalition tracked the evidence, showing that Silky Shark had been administered phenylbutazone (a deadly drug that must never enter the food chain) and subsequently slipped through the system undetected by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency.

Jack Rodolico of Latitude News has produced an exemplary account of the fate of this beautiful horse - Silky Shark’s life in the racing industry, how he fell through the cracks, and what chilling implications his death holds in terms of animal protection and food safety.

Reblogged from CHDC:

Canadian Horse Defence Coalition’s                                 Blog

Is anyone home at the CFIA?

We have received several reports that the CFIA is not returning phone calls and is sending out a generic auto response email in regards to recent concerns brought forth over horses being live shipped to Japan for slaughter. Questions are not being answered – the CFIA is, yet again, not taking responsibility for their actions. While we are not surprised by this lack of communication and poor judgement, we need to show them that we aren’t going to stop pursuing this until we see and end to it.

Going forward, please direct your email complaints to these CFIA officials in Ottawa.  You can copy and paste the email addresses and compose your own message to all five: nicole.cormier@inspection.gc.ca, george.dapont@inspection.gc.ca, Ritz.G@parl.gc.ca, Ian.Alexander@inspection.gc.ca, Martine.Dubuc@inspection.gc.ca

(Dr. Nicole Cormier is a CFIA Humane Transportation of Animals Program Specialist, George Da Pont is the President of the CFIA, Gerry Ritz is Minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food, Dr. Ian Alexander is Chief Veterinary Officer for the CFIA and Dr. Martine Dubuc is Chief Food Safety Officer for the CFIA.)

Please be respectful BUT:

Demand an answer.

Demand to know why, for the past 20 years, the CFIA have not been enforcing their own regulations.

Demand to know how many horses have died because of their negligence.

Demand to know what changes will be made to ensure that no more horses die, overcrowded in crates so small that they cannot stand in a natural position.

Demand to know why the countries where these horses are shipped to don’t have to report what condition the horses arrive in.

Note:  it has recently been revealed by the CFIA that horses originating from Canada arrived dead in Japan in August 2012.

  News from Colorado contact:

The plight of mustangs and burros is a hidden tragedy – Americans do not  realize what is taken from them and how cruelly. The footage of recent stampedes  is shocking, the hasty gathers and wipe out of whole herds speak volumes of  destruction and despair. Tax payers are funding this atrocity, under the guise  of “management”. Read this article: http://readersupportednews.org/pm-section/27-27/9442-tragedy-disguised-the-extinction-of-americas-last-wild-horses-and-burros Wild  horses are safe only on the range, where they enhance the eco-system. Their  evolution is here, and they positively contribute to soils, plants, animals and  people and help prevent wild fires. Government has too long targeted  them for elimination and wrongfully blamed them for damage caused by  cattle. The negative schemes must be exposed. Read Craig Downer’s compelling  book: “The Wild Horse Conspiracy”. It will blow your mind on the true story of  the West and how the Fed’s destroy this heritage in a cleverly deceptive agenda.  He has defended wild horses over 40 years against the merciless attacks of BLM  and special interests. It’s time people find out the truth.
Please sign this petition, with all that failed in years against this  massive eviction, we must maintain our voice for these defenseless icons.
Thank you. Monika Courtney

In 2008 Mr. Craig C. Downer a renowned Wild Horse Expert delivered his speech: http://giftofloki.wordpress.com/2011/09/24/forever-wild-and-free-mr-craig-downers-full-unedited-speech-revealing-the-truth-about-the-blm-roundups-and-plight-of-u-s-wildhorses/

Excerpt:

“Though the horse family is endangered world wide, wild horses and burros on public land remain on the very bottom of the totem pole of priorities of both the Bureau of Land Management & U.S. Forest Service.  These are the two agencies charged by law with protecting& managing them.  These two “national heritage species,” have rights to live free that are covered by the unanimously passed Public Law 92-195 and that are supported by many millions of ordinary U.S. citizens as well as people worldwide.  For these and other sundry reasons, the extent of livestock grazing and the number of permittees involved both in the original Herd Areas and in reduced Herd Management Areas should be clearly spelled out to the public – but this is not currently the case!”

Here is a link to Craig's proposal. It is posted on the Wild Horse
and Burro page on below website above the previous version he
released in 2010.

FACTS:

“The exclusion of wild horse and burro areas seems to be an intentional cover-up for the grossly unfair treatment that the wild horses and burros are receiving. “

Hundreds of thousands are fighting to Save America’s Wild Horses, unknown to each other, their voices are united for one GOAL, that being to end the brutal BLM roundups and the senseless annihiliation of wild horses and burros period.

“It is imperative to know the fabricated myths of range deterioration, starvation and the claim by some that wild horses are “feral” are fairy tales produced by special interests. Mustangs are native to North America, enough evidence is present.” See this report on BLM secrecy and tactics from George Knapp:

FACTS:  CANADA BLOODIES HER HANDS ENABLING BLM ROUND UPS TO CONTINUE!!!!

While the US closed their own equine slaughter houses years ago,  Canada continues to enable the massive and brutal round ups of American Wild Horses, by importing these terrified and injured animals into Canada.  After days of unending transport, without food, water and rest these exhausted magnificent horses find themselves in Canada’s Quebec and Alberta slaughterhouses.

Why?  So that Canada can export horse meat to countries outside of North America and derive yet more income for government coffers.

See Stats Canada chart showing number of American horses imported into this country for slaughter, the US banned this yrs ago and shut down their own slaughterhouses

FACTS:  Tainted Horse meat Unfit for Human Consumption

Politically Incorrect – Alberta politicians and horse slaughterby canadianhorsedefencecoalition

Politically incorrect.

http://canadianhorsedefencecoalition.wordpress.com/2012/04/23/politically-incorrect-alberta-politicians-and-horse-slaughter/

Excerpt:

“The law states that every horse that goes to slaughter MUST be accompanied with their original papers, to show their medical history & if they had been given drugs that are banned by the FDA & CFIA in animals intended for human consumption, yet this is impossible & rarely the case since so many horses have gone through multiple owners, are bought at auction & have even been stolen.”

“The most common drug that is given to horses, is Bute(Phenylbutazone) which is an analgesic (relieves pain) and anti-inflammatory medication, that is as common in horses, as aspirin is to people. The warning label reads; Health risks. Humans should not inhale or ingest Bute. Wash hands immediately after administering Bute. In humans, bone marrow, renal, cardiovascular and gastrointestinal side effects are associated with use of Phenylbutazone.”
“Bute is a drug that is not only banned in animals intended for human consumption, but a drug that never leaves the system once it had been administered. Tests may say that the carcass is free of Bute, but the tests is not done on the part of the carcass where Bute can be found (in the Kidneys). Therefore, no amount of guaranteeing a horse that has ever had Bute given to them, will ever make their meat safe to eat. Racehorses are also commonly sent to slaughter plants & we know they are given Bute, as is the case with any privately owned horse.”
“There has never been & never will be any way possible to ensure that horses going to slaughter, for the purpose of human consumption, are free of drugs such as Bute, yet no one in the Government seems to care. Why? Because horse slaughter is a great way to pad their wallets? That must be it, because there is not one benefit to horse slaughter, that isn’t monetary & that is only for those who benefit directly from the slaughter industry, which is only the people who are involved with horse slaughter (buyers, transporters, people in the plant, horse racing, PMU farms, Nurse mares, etc.) & the Government.
So I ask you, why is it not ok to allow consumers to eat tainted pork, beef, chicken, turkey or fish, but it is perfectly acceptable to allow consumers to eat tainted horse meat.”

“We need to force the Government to do the right thing, we must let them know that we will not allow our horses to be tortured, abused, maimed & killed in the most barbaric way, we will not tolerate them purposely poisoning people, just to make a buck. The time has come for them to get their heads out of their asses & smarten the hell up.

The Government needs to be held accountable for their irresponsible & selfish decisions & actions. The time for excuses, wool pulling, head in the sand & cover up’s are over. If they claim to not want to sell tainted beef, chicken, pork, etc, than they sure as hell shouldn’t be allowing tainted horse meat to be sold & exported”

If you have taken the time to read all of the above, the key words contained in the statement quoted are: “, yet no one in the Government seems to care. Why? Because horse slaughter is a great way to pad their wallets?”

“Horse slaughter is a great way to pad their wallets”

Bloggers Comment:

Horse slaughter is an excellent way to ensure that the cattle industry can also continue to move into grazing lands  that were designated as protected areas solely for Wild Horses and Burros,  without facing consequences.  Horse slaughter is also an excellent way for the continued destruction and exploitation  of natural habitat that was designated as protected areas solely for Wild Horses and Burros by large and profitable enterprises in the oil and mineral industries, which of course, you can rightly believe, make hefty political donations as well as filling government coffers with their tax dollars.

Canada has already become an International Disgrace for it’s continued Seal Hunt.  The EU, European Union, banned Canadian Seal Products yet Canada goes on it’s merry way doesn’t it? and spent hundreds of thousands of taxpayer dollars in its campaign to convince members of the EU to allow Canadian Seal Products into their countries and to find new customers outside the EU.

Canada continues to be an International Disgrace by enabling the massive BLM roundups for the slaughter of Wild Horses not only in the US but in Canada as well.

With Ontario’s Premier McGuinty’s closure of racetracks across Ontario, the estimated number of racehorses, 13,000 per CHDC, will likely be on the increase.  These horses, now deemed no longer profitable to their respective owners, injected with chemicals making them unfit for human consumption, will be brutally handled and slaughtered in Quebec plants that undercover investigations and videos have revealed to be houses of sheer suffering, pain and horror.

In addition the tainted meat produced from these horses will find its way to the dinner plates of unsuspecting families who will unknowingly  ingest chemicals which pose serious health risks to humans.

CONGRATULATIONS CANADA!!!

For your continued disregard!

For your continued enablement of the mass slaughter and extermination of a magnificent heritage species across the US and for the failure to protect the very few Wild Horses that still roam throughout Canada!

For your continued production and export of tainted horse meat products to the dinner plates of unsuspecting families!

Clearly obvious, now across Canada, the total disregard for population health safety can be seen, with the recent and unprecedented recall of  beef products produced in the XL Plant.  Contaminated with E.Coli this meat has proven to be deadly and the recall of the beef products has expanded in an alarming fashion.

While Agriculture Minister Rich has publically made the claim that we have more Meat and Plant Inspectors than ever before, his statement is ludicrous, given that P.M. Harper gutted the inspection process by firing so many inspectors across Canada.

Further, the failure to inspect and impose stricter regulations in the food processing plants and Factory Farms across Canada has resulted in the horrific and totally preventable deaths of thousands of Factor Farm animals in this country.  Once again the Canadian Government needs to be congratulated for inadequate and antiquated Federal Legislation, which protects an industry that continues to perpetuate the horrific treatment of these animals.

So, if anyone thinks that the Horse Slaughter Industry is being properly monitored and regulated here in Canada…THINK AGAIN!!!

HORRIFIC STATS ON FACTORY FARM ANIMALS BURNED ALIVE IN JUST FOUR DAYS IN CANADA

http://giftofloki.wordpress.com/2011/09/25/horrific-stats-on-factory-farm-animals-burned-alive-in-just-four-days-in-canada/

EXCERPT FROM THE ANIMAL DEFENSE LEAGUE OF CANADA NEWSLETTER  BULLETIN #178  FALL/WINTER 2011

“FACTORY-FARM BARN FIRES FILL OVER 23,000 ANIMALS IN FOUR DAYS” From Canadians for Ethical Treatment of Food Animals (CETFA), Vancouver, B.C., July 26, 2011

(Paraphrased):

‘Factory-barn fires are preventable – but they continue to occur because, in order to cut costs, they are highly automated with insufficient human maintenance and oversight.  This in spite of the fact that the toxic air from the waste of thousands of animals doesn’t only corrode the lungs of the confined animals – it also corrodes electrical wires and raises the likelihood of fire.  Furthermore, these animal death camps often lack either smoke sensors orsprinkler systems.  In this fire-trap situation, with many of the animals confined to metal gestation crates, concrete pens or battery cages, for animals to escape from the inferno is virtually impossible.”

For Immediate Release

Wild for Life Foundation

Los Angeles, CA

June 27, 2012

Wild for Life Foundation is pleased to announce the release of its brand new Flash media PSA, ” Justice for America’s Horses“,  a public service announcement to raise awareness about the cruelty of horse slaughter. The 1 minute PSA comes in the wake of the recent push by foreign investors to expand a niche market for horsemeat sold as a delicacy abroad.
History proves that USDA inspections fail to stop the insidious crimes of cruelty inside America’s slaughterhouses. Substantial evidence as documented by numerous governmental reports and undercover investigations reveal egregious violations and a total lack of enforcement by the USDA before horse slaughter plants were shut down in 2007. “If horse slaughter plants are reopened in the U.S., horses will undoubtedly suffer torturous agony on U.S. soil again,” states Katia Louise, President of Wild for Life Foundation.  “The new PSA, JUSTICE FOR AMERICA’S HORSES drives this point home through use of FOIA documentation previously suppressed by the USDA.”
“Foreign slaughterers want the U.S. government to ignore the resounding opposition to horse slaughter by 80% of the American people, and instead give them our hard earned tax dollars to set up new killing shops in the heart of our home town communities.”
As quoted from the PSA, “It doesn’t have to be this way. Federal protection is possible when you take a stand. Tell your policymakers to right the wrong by supporting the American Horse Slaughter Prevention Act.
JUSTICE FOR AMERICA’S HORSES was made possible by generous in kind contributions to Wild for Life Foundation from IMA Studios, Maria Daines, Paul Killington, Animal Law Coalition, Kaufman Zoning, Animals Angels & John Holland.

Unfortunately those who dedicate their lives to animal advocacy  far too often come across individuals, who by way of their own choices refuse to acknowledge the terrible truth about the continued brutality waged against animals with whom we share this planet.

In some cases, it is a lack of awareness, failing to do their own required research before they make ridiculous and uneducated comments.  They, by their very own omissions of action, remain blissfully ignorant of the facts, statistics, undercover videos, documented cases and published testimonies and accounts that are witnessed by those dedicated to saving animals.

There are those too, who, because they state it is too difficult for them to view pictorial and or video evidence fail to appreciate the horrific suffering of animals around the word.

Just the other day, I commented on  a Blog Post: “Horses need a Humane society” to which one response rather blew me away.  The response implied the spread of rumours that could not be proved as well as innuendo.  Obviously the individual has failed to spend the needed research time, and while may be passionate in feelings towards horses on a personal level,  insults those of us who do put in the endless hours necessary giving these magnificent equids a voice.

Photos provided from CFAWR:  horses awaiting slaughter.  Per CFAWR:  often the horses eyes are gouged so they are unable to see and protect themselves.

The CHDC published a very informative report: “Black Beauty Betrayed” the Slaughter of US and Canadian Horses: a report on equine slaughter at Natural Valley Farms Horse Slaughterhouse in Neudorf, Saskatchewan: April 27 – May 1, 2008.  This report is a MUST read for all who believe in the sanctity of life period.

The CHDC received both video footage and pictorial evidence in May 2008 from an unknown source as to what was actually taking place at the Natural Valley Slaughterhouse.  The pictures and videos are terrifying and extremely graphic, as a courtesy to my readers I must warn you.

A great many people are dedicated to saving horses not only in Canada and the US, but around the world as well.  Many of these individuals such as Craig Downer, author of “The Wild Horse Conspiracy”, another MUST read;  Katia Louise film maker of “Saving America’s Wild Horses: A Nation Betrayed;  Monika my Colorado contact;  The Equine Welfare Alliance, The ‘Cloud Foundation’ and of course the Canadian Horse Defense Coalition..not to mention countless others as myself who continue to get the message out and to give these beautiful creatures a voice.

Sadly there will always remain those who will continue in their pro horse slaughter campaigns, spewing out their lies and propaganda to aid in the continued annihilation of wild horses both in Canada and the US to fuel their greed.  Sadly there will remain those individuals who voice un-educated comments that, if anything, point to a lack of knowledge and real understanding (having failed to learn the truth by researching the facts).  Sadly companion horses will continue to face the brutality and horrific deaths in slaughterhouses within Canada and Mexico..the US banned their own slaughterhouses years ago however there is a real push on now by pro-slaughter supports such as Wallis to have them re-opened.

“In late February 2010, the Canadian Horse Defence Coalition (CHDC) received hidden camera footage of horse slaughter practices at Viande Richelieu in Quebec and Bouvry Exports in Alberta – the latter known as the largest exporter of horsemeat in North America. The CHDC has compelling proof that puts into question the effectiveness of the assembly-line slaughter of horses. The evidence demonstrates that both the facilities in Alberta and Quebec fail to meet humane slaughter standards used by the CFIA to audit Canadian slaughterhouses.”

Black Beauty Betrayed:

Canada continues to import US horses into this country for slaughter.  This horsemeat is then shipped overseas, may wind up in pet foods, and has already been declared unfit for human consumption.
